About Mona Tideman Ball
Design has always been at the center of how I see and interact with the world. My creative foundation focusing on culture and perspective was shaped early through my education in a Chinese immersion program from kindergarten through eighth grade, followed by attendance at a performing arts high school in San Francisco where I focused on jazz singing. Growing up immersed in both visual and performing arts encouraged creativity, discipline, and an appreciation for rhythm, balance, and expression — qualities that continue to guide my design thinking.
I also grew up exploring San Francisco’s walkable neighborhoods, observing how architecture, storefronts, and public spaces contribute to a sense of community and everyday experience. These experiences influence how I approach each project, with sensitivity to movement, interaction, and how people inhabit space. I value collaboration and thoughtful problem-solving, and I see design as an opportunity to create environments that feel engaging, intuitive, and connected to place.
